Building & Energy Management Systems

Modern buildings are invariably specified with complex systems to provide the comfort and safety of the occupants. The equipment typically found in a new hospital for example will comprise heating boilers, domestic hot water generation equipment, air handling units, heat recovery systems, water chillers, air conditioning units, fire alarms, security systems etc etc – the list goes on.

Management and control of such a diverse range of plant requires a Building and Energy management system – a network of plant controllers which provide localised switching, scheduling and monitoring functions. Such systems are normally networked together and managed via a PC in the site engineer or facility management office.

Proper control of HVAC plant and equipment will result in dramatic energy savings and will optimise equipment life. Typically where we retrofit a BEMS system to a scheme previously controlled by a more conventional method, the payback period in terms of energy saved is less than 3 years.   

Systems can be configured for remote access via telephone or internet connections, providing greater flexibility, convenience and efficiency.
